In support of Hamilton’s mission to educate the membership on the safe use of firearms, the Hamilton Rifle Committee is happy to announce the 2024 season of Downrange Training (DRT). DRT is a member-only program held on the 4th Friday of the month from April – October. Each session will focus on a specific firearms platform and will be led by certified instructors. The program will start at 5:30PM at the Rifle Range (rain or shine) and the cost is $10 to cover the expenses of the shoot. Members are encouraged to bring their own firearms, but a limited amount of loaner firearms will be available for folks that do not possess the platform that is being covered. The instruction team has decided to change up the program for 2024 and introduce a new set of platforms to the program Here is the schedule for the season along with the required gear/ammunition.
- April 26th – Carbine Rifle – ( AR or AK ) – Rifle, sling and 3 magazines required. Approx. 200 rounds of ammunition.
- May 24th – Pistol – Pistol, OWB holster and 3 magazines. Approx. 200 rounds of ammunition
- June 28th – Carbine/Pistol – Rifle & Pistol, 3 magazines each, Sling for rifle, 200 rounds of both rifle & pistol
- July 26th – Tactical Shotgun- Pump/Semi shotgun, shell holder/pouch, Sling ( recommended ), 50rds of bird shot, 50rds of 00 buck, 25 rifled slugs
- Aug 23rd – Precision Rifle ( centerfire or .22LR, scope, sling, shooting bags, 40 rounds ammo )
- Sept 27th – Precision Rifle (centerfire or .22LR, scope, sling, shooting bags, 40 rounds ammo )
- Oct 25th – Low-light training ( Rile, Pistol, 3 magazines for each, 150 rounds per, sturdy handheld flashlight )
Please note – All participants will be required to provide a valid MA-LTC and your HRGC Member # on the first night of attendance.
